  • 1986
    • A request is sent to the Milwaukee School of Architectural Engineering to design a prototype retirement village.
  • 1987
    • In anticipation of building a retirement village, the Grand Lodge leases part of the farm to the Home Board. Steps are taken to annex the farm to the Village of Dousman. Annexation would enable water and sewage facilities to be available to the farmland for possible construction.
    • Four different designs are received from the Milwaukee School of Architectural Engineering for a retirement village.
  • 1989
    • A $1,000,000 contribution is given to the Home by the Humphrey Foundation to develop an independent living complex. The name of this new facility would be The Masonic Village on the Square (MVOS).
    • Our current President & CEO, Mark Strautman, becomes the administrator of the Masonic Health Care Center.
  • 1990
    • A dream held by many was about to come true. The vision of a retirement community for independent living that began in 1978 was no longer a dream. On August 5 ground is broken for the new MVOS facility that would become the third pillar.
    • MVOS would consist of 66 apartments and 10 cottages. At the time of groundbreaking there are 42 reservations.
    • The first pillar of the Dousman Masonic Home complex was the building of Van Brunt and the Hospital. The second was the Masonic Health Care Center, and now the third would be the Masonic Village on the Square.
  • 1991
    • Our Independent Living Community, Village on the Square, opens with 69 independent living apartments.
    • With Village on the Square added the campus now offers a full continuum of independent living, assisted living, and skill nursing.
    • A desire to incorporate the Three Pillar concept results in a name change. From now on the Masonic complex in Dousman would be known as Three Pillars to describe the full continuum of care provided.
    • Approximately 157 acres on Shawano Lake in Cecil, WI is purchased to develop another independent living community.
  • 1994
    • Construction of the Shawano Lake retirement village begins. Plans call for apartments and duplex units at the site.
