Lunch & Learn: Notorious Confederate Spy Buried in the Dells
With Sue Giese from Historical Timekeepers
What if one of the Civil War’s most infamous spies was hiding in plain sight—and resting right here in the Wisconsin Dells?
Join Sue Giese of Historical Timekeepers for a fascinating Lunch & Learn that dives into the bold, scandalous, and surprisingly clever life of Maria Isabella “Belle” Boyd—a Confederate spy who charmed, flirted, and manipulated her way into Union secrets during the Civil War.
Known for weaponizing society’s assumptions about women as harmless, emotional, and demure, Belle Boyd turned those stereotypes on their head. Her daring espionage made her notorious on both sides.
Think history is boring? Think again. This presentation is packed with espionage, audacity, and local intrigue — it just might change how you see the past.
