This poignant drama based on Alice Munro’s short story The Bear Came Over the Mountain, follows Grant and Fiona, a married couple of 44 years whose bond is tested when Fiona develops Alzheimer’s disease and moves into a specialized care facility. Fiona checks into the Meadowlake care facility, where the rules stipulate a 30-day no-visit period to help patients adjust. When Grant finally visits, he is devastated to find that Fiona has lost all romantic memories of him and has transferred her affections to another resident, Aubrey. Heartbroken and forced to confront his own past marital indiscretions, Grant attempts to navigate this profound loss of his wife to both her disease and another man.
