The Amish in Wisconsin - presented by Mark Louden
One of America's most familiar yet widely misunderstood religious groups are the Old Order Amish. This presentation will address central aspects of Amish life and the Christian faith that anchors it, with a special emphasis on Amish communities in Wisconsin, which has the fourth-largest population of any US state.
Mark Louden is a professor of Germanic linguistics and religious studies at UW–Madison and a practicing Mennonite. He speaks Pennsylvania Dutch, the main language of the Amish, and serves as an interpreter and cultural mediator for Amish people, especially in the area of health care.
